Ski Holidays in Mayrhofen

In the premier league of ski resorts, Mayrhofen is a perfect Tyrolean combination of picturesque architecture and breathtaking valley views. The first lift may only have had its first lift installed in the 1950s, but Mayrhofen has been welcoming visitors for more than a century.
In the Zilller Valley in north western Austria, and an hour from Innsbruck, Mayrhofen has lifts which go very high, and an extensive snow making capacity, making up for the comparatively low altitude.
Mayrhofen sits between the Penken and Ahorn mountains, the latter offering mainly easy and intermediate runs, but also a long, steep red run once on the World Cup Downhill circuit but later removed after it was considered too dangerous.
The Penken mountain offers Austria's steepest piste, Harakiri, as well as a broad range of ski runs for skiers of different levels of ability. It is reached by the impressive Penken cable car and linked by lifts with the villages of Finkenberg, Lanersbach and Schwendau.
