Holidays in Costa Del Sol
Spain Main Guide | Costa Del Sol Main Guide
The Costa del Sol, the birth place
of Picasso, has miles of beautiful sandy beaches
and excellent weather throughout the year. There
is a wide selection of resorts to chose from including
Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Marbella. The Costa del sol
is famous for its varied nightlife and you will
find a large number of bars, pubs and clubs that
suit all ages and nationalities. Benalmadena's
Puerto Marina & '24 hour square' and Marbella's
Puerto Banus are very popular and many venues
stay open till the early hours of the morning.
This is a perfect beach holiday location and there
is plenty of it to choose from. If you want a
bit of seclusion then with a little effort you
can be sitting on your own stretch of beach away
from the crowds. As with all the Costa's you will
want to book early if you want the best hotels
and accommodation as this is a very popular destination.
Most of the villages near the coast are now fashionable
resorts aimed at the tourist market. If you're
a little more adventurous and want to hunt down
the local culture then travel into the highlands
and experience some real village life. Many of
the towns began as fortresses which later developed
into thriving agricultural centres. There is plenty
of fresh local produce to select from if you want
to go self catering and if your looking for affordable
local goods then pay a visit to the local flea
market or mercadillo. The markets vary in size
and the type of goods sold but they are a great
place to explore interesting collections of local
arts and crafts as well as pick up some real local
bargins.

If you're a golfer, you've come to the right
place in fact the Costa del sol is even nicknamed the
Costa del Golf as there are nearly 60 courses
though out the Costa del sol including 30 along the coast.
Horse riding is also popular on the Costa del sol and
many of the hotels have arrangements with local
stables. Horse lovers will want to visit the equestrian
school in Estepona or the Hippodrome in Mijas.
There are numerous routes for trekking and cycling
throughout the Costa del sol and information on local
routes can be found at most local tourism offices
and town halls. Entertaining the kids shouldn't
be too difficult as there are lots of great days
out and trips available. The Costa del sol has three
excellent water parks which are open from Easter
for the summer season and the Tivoli Amusement
Park the oldest and largest fairground in Spain.
If you want something a little different then
try visiting the caves at Nerja, the castle at
San Pedro or jump on board the cable car ride
in Mijas.
The Costa del Sol has everything you want from
a holiday from beautiful scenic villages to sea
and sand. The coast has everything you need in
terms of a fantastic beach holiday and if your
prepared to dig a little deeper you will be rewarded
with a varied cultural experience.
